Hello beautiful people! You know what we’ve never had before here at Mattkazstrophe? We’ve never had...

I’m just so relieved it’s over.
…just crying over a review from “The Dalton Prison Study.” Alexei and I have said it time and time again, but this was more than just another fic for us. You guys really upped your game and thought brilliant things and opened fantastic discussions and generally made it wonderful to share the story will you. But honestly, it’s reviews like this that make it all worthwhile…

…I loved this. I loved Blaine, Kurt and Noah. And I’m happy I read this. It put me on a emotional rollercoster but it taught me to be strong and not to judge people I don’t even know. It taught me that friendship and love can be found in the most weird situations. That even the worst people can become better. It taught me that even if you are bad you can work and become a better person. It taught me that even criminals are sometimes good people. I think it also taught me to at least try to understand other people. To at least try to forgive.
Rather than try to reply coherently right now (I’ll save that for the AM when I’m slightly less emotional and sleep-deprived), I’ll just express myself via reaction GIFs:

Alexei, anything to add? Besides keymashing, obviously…
We’ll call this the CAPS LOCK/liveblog style review. And it is my new favorite… Because fic reviewers don’t get enough love, and they are one of the main reasons we write, after all.

…that I love all our Dalton Prison Study readers/reviewers so much that I just want to boop your noses and make little angst babies with you? Is that too much? Because you guys are seriously awesome, okay?

Seriously, is there anything better than a reader who takes the time to send a proper review? Part of the reason that Alexei and I wanted to do this type of AU fic is that we are both huge psych nerds and this study is just fascinating on so many levels. We’ve been really lucky so far to have heard from quite a few people who studied the Stanford Prison Experiment in school, which has allowed for discussions that your average fluff fanfic just doesn’t generate. But honestly, it’s reviews and messages like these that make the many hours of sleep we’ve lost working on this fic so worth it… So thank you :)

So I cannot believe I’ve not actually read this before! It was by chance I saw the link come up on my tumblr and for some reason I must have missed the rest, because the idea instantly grabbed me. I’m currently doing AS Psychology, and one of our studies is the BBC (Reicher and Haslam) Prison Study, which is essentially a more ethical version of the SPE, so is something we looked at in quite a lot of detail. And I’m just completely in awe of this. Not only have you included such incredible detail from the original study, but have retained some amazing characterisation. My heart aches for both Blaine and Kurt and your writing is incredibly powerful - we watched the Prisoner 819 (I think?) scene with the closet and it lost none of it’s impact as you wrote it. That was just the biggest example in my head, but I could point to so many more. You and Alexei have done a brilliant job. Just…wow.
